The KT-1 Woongbi is a single-engine turboprop aircraft developed by KAI and ADD primarily for basic pilot training. Introduced into service in 2000, it has since become a reliable trainer platform for the Republic of Korea Air Force and international clients. It features both analog and glass cockpit configurations, NVG-compatible systems, HUD, MFDs, GPS/inertial navigation, onboard oxygen generation, environmental control, and HOTAS-compatible controls .
In its light attack role, the KT-1 can be outfitted with guns, rockets, bombs, external fuel tanks, FLIR sensors, and laser rangefinders, adapting to mission needs .
Several variants extend its capabilities:
KA-1: Armed forward air control variant with enhanced avionics and weapons payload .
KT-1C, KT-1B, KT-1T, KT-1P, KA-1P, KA-1S: Export and export-armed versions customized for countries like Indonesia, Turkey, Peru, and Senegal.
