The Granular Type Mold Flux from Stollberg & Samil is manufactured into pellet / hollow / cylindrical granular form to improve handling, reduce dust, and enhance flowability in delivery systems.
When added to the top of molten steel in the mold, the granules melt to form a thin slag layer that:
Insulates the molten shell to delay premature solidification
Lubricates the interface between steel and mold walls
Protects the flowing steel from atmospheric gases
Captures inclusions / deoxidation products
Regulates heat transfer between the steel and mold
