Hyundai Rotem is pioneering Hydrogen Mobility, beginning with the commercialization of hydrogen fuel cell trams—catenary-free, zero-emission rail vehicles powered by flat-type fuel cells and battery systems. Following national R&D validation and award recognition (iF Design Award 2023, R&D Top 10 in 2024), the company is now supplying 34 units for Daejeon Metro Line 2 (delivery 2026–2028). The development roadmap continues toward hydrogen multiple units (≈100 km/h), locomotives (~160 km/h), and hydrogen high-speed trains, supported by infrastructure such as hydrogen production systems and mobile fuel cell generators. This vision aims to establish a full hydrogen-powered rail transportation ecosystem.
