Ilmenite’s slight magnetic properties and resistance to chemical and thermal degradation make it ideal for heavy mineral sand processing, where it's separated from rutile, zircon, and other valuable minerals . Further refinement through smelting, leaching, or the Becher process yields synthetic rutile or titanium dioxide pigment, supporting industries including coatings, paper, inks, and pharmaceuticals
