“The K1 AVLB, developed by Hyundai Rotem, is a combat engineering vehicle based on the K1 MBT platform, tasked with bridging obstacle gaps quickly and under fire. Featuring a 22 m scissor-type bridge capable of supporting up to 60 t (MLC 66), it enables armoured units to traverse dangerous terrains within minutes (deployment: 3 min; recovery: 10 min). With a combat weight of 53.7 t, 1,200 hp engine, 400 km range, and mobility matching the K1 MBT, the vehicle supports a two-person crew. Built-in survivability includes a 7.62 mm machine gun, smoke launchers, CBR protection, and an automatic fire extinguisher system. The bridge structure withstands over 8,000 crossings and accommodates slopes, bank height differences, and side inclinations, vastly enhancing maneuverability for mechanized forces.”
