The K1 Armored Recovery Vehicle (K1 ARV), designed by Hyundai Rotem, is a robust battlefield support vehicle built on the K1 MBT chassis, offering seamless component interoperability. Operated by a 4-member crew, it features a 25-ton hydraulic crane, heavy-duty winches capable of up to 70 tons via pulley, and a dozer blade for stabilization and obstacle clearance. Equipped with fuel pumps, welding gear, chainsaws, and an auxiliary power unit, it delivers comprehensive battlefield repair and recovery capabilities. Frontline survivability is ensured through a defensive 12.7 mm HMG, smoke launchers, and automated fire suppression. Powered by a 1,200 hp engine, it reaches speeds of up to 65 km/h and can traverse deep trenches and swamps under combat conditions. In service since the early 1990s, the K1 ARV remains a critical logistics and support asset for armoured formations.
