The KF-21 Boramae is a twin-engine, multirole fighter developed by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) and ADD to provide South Korea with a domestically produced air superiority and precision strike asset. It features stealth-inspired shaping, an AESA radar, advanced electronic warfare systems, and a tactical data link suite—marking an important milestone in South Korea’s aerospace sovereignty.
Powered by two GE F414-GE-400K turbofan engines, the aircraft achieves speeds up to Mach 1.8 with an approximate range of 2,900 km (ferry range ~1,550 nmi) and can carry a maximum payload of around 7.7 tonnes using 10 external hardpoints
AeroTime.
Initial production of 20 Block I aircraft has been approved, with deliveries beginning from late 2026 to mid-2027; future upgrades include Block II (air-to-ground capability) and KF-21EX, which will introduce full stealth features like internal weapons bays and radar-absorbent materials.
